Attapulgite Desiccant

Attapulgite Desiccant
Attapulgite desiccant is a clay mineral desiccant primarily composed of natural attapulgite (palygorskite). Its main component is a crystalline hydrated magnesium aluminum silicate mineral, characterized by a one-dimensional nanostructure and a layered chain-like crystal structure.
The raw ore of attapulgite desiccant appears as a white to grayish-green earthy substance. It undergoes multiple processes, including weathering, pulverization, modification, and granulation, to be transformed into spherical desiccant.
Attapulgite desiccant is commonly applied in sectors such as food and pharmaceuticals, electronic instruments, textiles and leather, handicrafts, industrial warehousing, and residential spaces for moisture-proofing, mold prevention, rust prevention, freshness preservation, and safety protection, thanks to its natural non-toxicity, non-corrosiveness, stable moisture absorption and retention, and environmental friendliness and biodegradability.

Main Component: Attapulgite
Appearance: Earthy yellow or gray spherical particles
Particle Size: Commonly available in 2 – 4 mesh, with small packaging options ranging from 1 – 1000 g; customization is available upon request
Specific Surface Area: ≥350 m²/g, ensuring high adsorption efficiency
Internal Pore Size: 3.7 × 6.4 Å, facilitating the adsorption of water molecules
pH Value: 6 – 7.5 or 8.5 ± 0.5, indicating neutral to slightly alkaline properties

Temperature Resistance: Exhibits superior moisture absorption capacity compared to montmorillonite at high temperatures and can be regenerated by drying at 140℃
Environmental Friendliness: Non-toxic and harmless, meeting safety limits for arsenic, lead, and mercury. It is reusable
Packaging Materials: A variety of breathable packaging options are provided, including high-quality non-woven fabric, composite paper, and DuPont paper
Regular Specifications: Available in various bag sizes, including 1 g, 2 g, 5 g, 10 g, 20 g, 50 g, and up to 1000 g, with full customization supported
High-Efficiency Moisture Absorption: With a high specific surface area (≥350 m²/g) and a unique pore structure, it achieves a moisture absorption rate of 18% – 25%, enabling rapid moisture adsorption and delivering remarkable drying effects.
Environmental Protection and Safety: Composed of natural mineral ingredients, it is non-toxic and harmless, complying with environmental standards. It has no negative impact on humans or the environment, making it safe for use in sensitive fields such as food and pharmaceuticals.
Strong Temperature Resistance: Its moisture absorption performance surpasses that of montmorillonite at high temperatures. Furthermore, it supports regeneration by drying at 140℃, reducing costs through reuse and adapting to various extreme conditions.
Multi-Functionality: In addition to moisture prevention, it can also adsorb odors, providing deodorizing functions. When made into a vapor-phase rust-preventive desiccant, it effectively protects metals from corrosion.
Wide Application Scope: Suitable for diverse fields, including food, pharmaceuticals, precision instruments, electronic products, aerospace, and metal rust prevention, meeting various moisture-proof requirements.
Economic and Practical: Its reusable nature extends its service life, resulting in lower overall costs and making it a cost-effective moisture-proof solution.
Attapulgite desiccant achieves efficient, stable, and environmentally friendly moisture absorption performance through mechanisms such as physical adsorption (due to its porous structure and van der Waals forces), chemical adsorption (through surface reactions), capillary condensation, and dynamic equilibrium regulation. It can also be regenerated through high-temperature drying, making it an ideal moisture-proof solution.
